Mercedes-Benz ESF 2019: New safety ideas for a new mobility

Electric drive systems and automated driving are key technologies for the mobility of the future. This leads to changes in the requirements for in-car safety technology: first, much more flexible seating positions in the interior of such vehicles require a different form of occupant protection. And secondly, empathy and trust are central factors for the acceptance of self-driving vehicles. Other road users must be able to recognise intuitively what an automated vehicle intends to do, as in many situations there will be no driver to communicate this. With the new Experimental Safety Vehicle ESF 2019, Mercedes-Benz is giving an insight into the ideas that the company's safety experts are researching and working on. Among the one dozen or so innovations, some are near-series developments and some look well into the future. die Presse-Partner wrote the press kit.

Mercedes-Benz GLS: The S-Class of SUVs

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS is Mercedes-Benz's largest and most luxurious SUV and, above all, offers more: more space, more comfort, more luxury. The confident presence of its exterior stems from its impressive dimensions, which are even larger than those of its predecessor (length +77 mm, width +22 mm). One of the benefits of the 60 mm longer wheelbase is interior spaciousness, especially in the second row. The three fully electrically adjustable seat rows offer all passengers a generous amount of space and outstanding seating comfort. The seats in the third row can be lowered into the floor to increase the boot space (up to 2400 litres), while the seats in the second row fold flat. die Presse-Partner wrote the press kit.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé: Cool, laid-back, exciting

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé is not only the most emotional vehicle in its class, it is also highly intelligent: From MBUX Interior Assist, which recognises operational demands from gestures and equips the interior with intelligence, through augmented reality for navigation and understanding indirect voice commands to the ENERGIZING COACH that provides individual fitness recommendations, the new CLA offers an array of clever solutions. There are also ingenious details when it comes to the aerodynamics and functions for the Intelligent Drive driving assistance package. The design underlines the coupé character with its stretched form and design elements such as the bonnet with powerdomes or the rear licence plate which has been moved down. die Presse-Partner wrote the press kit.

Mercedes-Benz Concept GLB: This is how spacious and robust a compact car can be

With the Concept GLB at Auto Shanghai (18 to 25 April 2019), Mercedes-Benz shows what SUV ideas on the company's compact car platform might also be realised alongside the GLA as a sporty all-rounder. While the latter promises progressive driving enjoyment with its coupé-like lines, the Concept GLB places the emphasis on spaciousness and robustness. The concept car has space for up to seven occupants thanks to its long wheelbase. A number of sturdy features signal that the Concept GLB feels right at home on rough farm tracks. die Presse-Partner wrote the press release.

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake

Attractive, intelligent – and at the same time practical: The new Mercedes-Benz CLA will also be available as a Shooting Brake from September. Just like the four-door CLA Coupé, the Shooting Brake puts its own spin on the design idiom of sensual purity and turns the interior into a coolly designed user interface for intelligent digital technology. From the striking sharknose at the front of the vehicle to the clean edge with accented surfaces, the design displays elegant athletics right down to the gently muscular rear. The latter on the CLA Shooting Brake ensures a decisive addition in terms of functionality. die Presse-Partner wrote the press release.

TecTalk: On the road to zero-emission driving

Sustainability is one of the core principles in the corporate strategy of Daimler AG, and also a measure of Daimler’s commercial success. The commitment not only relates to the products, but to the entire value creation process. This is why the company is committed to aspects such as the sustainability of supply chains, environmental protection in the plants or the responsible handling of data. A core element for Daimler is and remains the “road to zero-emission driving” and linked to this is the systematic electrification of the entire vehicle fleet. die Presse-Partner wrote the press kit for the TecTalk.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé: Automotive intelligence can be this beautiful

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé is not only the most emotional vehicle in its class, it is also highly intelligent: From MBUX Interior Assist, which recognises operational demands from gestures and equips the interior with intelligence, through augmented reality for navigation and understanding indirect voice commands to the ENERGIZING COACH that provides individual fitness recommendations, the new CLA offers an array of clever solutions. There are also ingenious details when it comes to the aerodynamics and new functions for the Intelligent Drive driving assistance package. The design underlines the coupé character with its stretched form and design elements such as the bonnet with powerdomes or the rear licence plate which has been moved down. As such it does justice to its predecessor’s status as a design icon. die Presse-Partner wrote the press release.
